I purchased an all inclusive trip for punta cana on Jan 31, 2020. My daughter (college student) was going to be on spring break the week of 3/15 and wanted to take a trip with me.
We booked an all-inclusive trip with the flight and hotel (all inclusive stay) in Punta Cana. Airport transfers and baggage fees also were paid.
Right before the trip date, the US was shutting down travel due to COVID, as were other countries. On 3/16/20, the trip had to be cancelled. Travel date was for 3/18 through 3/21.
I called apple vacations on their hotline, waited over 3 hours to get an agent, and then had this trip cancelled. At that time, I was told I was getting a travel voucher that is valid for one year. I saw the credit on the site at that time, so I didn't pursue it further. I knew that the travel industry was hurting, and I did like to travel, so I should have been able to use the travel voucher.
When I went to check again on 8/31/2020, it was not there anymore on the site on my account.
I called on 9/1/2020 (waited over 2 hours to get an agent again) and I was informed that it had expired - there was no notification that it was expiring or had expired.
I never got any of the travel services due to COVID. I don't see why my money wasn't refunded.
I am extremely shocked that there hasn't been any type of compensation made for this scenario.

Stealing completely fraudulent company
I booked a hotel only portion and realized that I could get a better rate almost immediately. So I called back to cancel well within the 24 hour window and at least 3 weeks prior to arrival .
Told I would get a refund only after many hours on hold and talking with numerous different representatives. Completely fraudulent and still no refund 3 weeks later. This is stealing and they are a bunch of crooks. No customer service, reps lie over and over again to cover their assess.
This company will surely go under. Meanwhile I am filing a fraudulent charge report with American Express and letting the IRS know that they keep peoples money even after cancellation.
CROOKS!!!

Right off the bat we got screwed out of a day of our vacation and spent it at LAX because even though we arrived to the airport 3 hours early as suggested we missed our flight. Very much related to the idea that we didn't receive 1 of 3 boarding passes via email and were stuck in line after line trying to obtain the missing boarding pass. So the next flight didn't depart until 11:21pm. Our original flight departed at 9:55 am.
This ended up costing me extra money due to the fact that I booked a hotel room for us to hang out in for a couple hours until our flight boarded. And we lost a whole day in cancun. And we're so exhausted by the time we arrived in cancun the next morning that we slept the better part of the day on our second day. Onto the resort, we stayed at Riu Caribe all inclusive.
It was supposed to have laundry facilities which it did not have, and the front desk staff was pretty useless. The rooms were in disrepair. Using the hair dryer blew breakers to the whole room. And the floors were so dirty I didn't even like to walk around barefoot..
The shower head constantly turned towards the wall. And made it extremely difficult to shower. And the toilets clogged up several times during our stay from flushing a tissue that I blew my nose with once. Onto the food, it was absolutely terrible.
And believe me I tried enough of it to try and find something worth eating. None of it was good. Every meal I would finally just get tired of trying different foods. Never full, never satisfied, believe me, I tried.
The front desk staff as 'for mentioned was useless. At one point we asked them for some anti-diahrea medication and was told that they did not provide medical services. Umm, what? The front desk staff suggested we take a bus that was supposed to be running 24hrs to a pharmacy to to get some.
Long story short, the staff told us they accept american currency, that wasn't entirely true, we got kicked off the bus 7 miles from our resort during a thunderstorm and 89 degrees outside at night and ended up having to walk all the way back to our resort.. I hate to say it, but I'm really disappointed at how our trip turned out, and I don't think we should be disappointed with the money I spent.

First Apple Vacations is the most difficult company to deal with. Nothing is easy with them.
Extremely long hold times then even when you reach a person its so difficult to get them to do anything. Even if you want to change your date or ANYTHING on your reservation they charge you hundreds of dollars! Secondly, dont bother staying at the Breezes Bahamas. At best 3 apples.
4+ apples is a lie! Its like staying at a Best Western. Extremely outdated, very understaffed and nothing they say is open really is. I called a week before my arrived to confirm the kayaks, paddle boards and snorkeling equipment was available, I was told yes but the rock climbing and tapeeze wasnt, ok fine.
Upon arrival no water equipment is available. We were told because of the government. That was a lie. Other resorts have their equipment out.
No cable channels like HBO SHOWTIME or STARZ even though its on the channel list, only local. Its like they cut corner where they could. Please tell me what I paid 8k for? Completely overpriced.
I could have over looked the outdatedness of the hotel but other things made me angry. The food is decent. The only thing I love about this stay is the water pressure and the beautiful beach. Chair are broken and moldy.
How about invest in a pressure washer and clean it up! Everyone is very nice except for the two make bartenders we had on Sunday. Rude! Cody is the best bartender around!
If you dont mind low quality but overpaying then stay here. Definitely didnt meet my expectations at all. Not for the 8k I paid for 4 people. Stay at SLS, Hilton, Baha Mar or Atlantis!

Due to a car accident (no fault our ours) and finding out my husband had cancer, we were unable to take our trip. I called, but because the accident happened within the 3 day cancellation period, Apple Vacations denies any sort of Credit.
We feel this is extremely unjust due to the fact it WAS AN ACCIDENT, and we couldn't travel. One Apple rep told me to send in our private medical history from the accident, and she would see that Credit was given. This has been going on since May of this year. CLEARLY IF there was no accident, we would have gone on our vacation.
We are long time Apple Vacation people... MANY vacations have been booked. We THOUGHT Apple was better than this.
So anyway, Apple vacations has my husband's medical records floating around who knows where.... and for no reason apparently.

Preferred solution: A telephone call 941-786-6777. I'd really like to discuss this entire situation with someone who can give us Credits. This was a situation not from our choice to cancel.
User's recommendation: DON'T BOOK with Apple Vacations because they have NO sympathy of ACCIDENTS which are out of our control and CLEARLY have no regard for HIPA rules and regulations.
